Introduction to Wanyari.

Wanyari is a stylish new beach house in Orchid Beach on magical Fraser Island. Come and experience nature, wildlife, 4 wheel driving, pure lakes, rainforest, huge sand dunes, white sandy beaches, excellent fishing, swimming, bushwalking and exploring, and then return to the comforts of a modern house and kick back on our rooftop viewing deck with a drink and soak up some of the best views on the Island. Between July and September you can also do some whale watching from our deck as the humpbacks pass by on their annual migration.

Orchid Beach is a small residential village on the eastern beach near beautiful Waddy Point and surrounded by pristine World Heritage National Park in the quiet north of magical Fraser Island. There are no tour buses, very few day trippers and less beach traffic than the busy areas of the middle and south of the island. The small group of houses support a number of local residents and a handful of holiday rentals. The only shop is the Orchid Beach Trading Post which sells fuel, bait and limited basic provisions with alcohol available from a licensed bar. They have a public phone and an ATM machine and can give advice on local beach, track and tide conditions. There are no restaurants / cafes in Orchid beach.

Wanyari has spectacular ocean views and is also a great base from which to explore Waddy Point, the wild and remote Sandy Cape, Indian Head, Champagne Pools, Ocean Lake and Wathumba Creek. Fraser Island is accessed by barge from either Hervey Bay in the west or Rainbow Beach to the south and a 4 wheel drive is essential, the main ‘roads’ on the island being the eastern beach and sandy bush tracks, all part of the adventure of your trip!
