Wanyari, Orchid Beach, Fraser Island - information about the property.
Wanyari is a new beach house located at number 6, Euenmundi Court overlooking the adjacent World Heritage National Park and has spectacular views of the ocean, sandblows and nearby Waddy Point.
The word ‘wanyari’ is an adaptation of the word ‘wanari’ or ‘wangari’ (pronounced wanyari) which is the Batjala word for dingo. The indigenous Batjala people lived an idyllic existence on the island for thousands of years prior to white settlement.
The highset house was completed early 2007 and has a relaxed but contemporary feel. Downstairs are 3 large bedrooms (2 with queen beds, 1 with one set of single bunks and one single bed), a TV / living room, bathroom, separate toilet and laundry. Upstairs is airy open-plan living with kitchen, dining and lounge. The master bedroom is on this level, with ensuite and toilet.
The outlook from all windows on this upper level is spectacular with views over bush, ocean and the beach to Waddy Point. A spiral staircase leads from the deck up to our rooftop lookout deck where you will be blown away by some of the best panoramic ocean views on the island from Waddy Point to Sandy Cape. It is about 400 metres to beautiful Orchid Beach from the house.

- 24 hour self-sufficient power from solar panels, batteries and inverter set- up with auto diesel generator backup.
- Beautiful pure Fraser Island water from a spear pump on the property. Safe to drink.
- Kitchen has upright gas stove and oven, 2 fridges (1 x 385 &1 x 390 litres), small microwave, and stainless steel work benches. Crockery, cutlery, glasses, utensils, pots and pans all provided.
- Living areas on each level have a TV with DVD player, and there is a CD player upstairs with MP3 input for your iPOD. There is also a small library of books , DVD’s and kid’s games for you to enjoy during your stay.
- Polished timber floors throughout. Tiled wet areas.
- Gas BBQ on middle deck.
- Old style wood BBQ with grate for boiling mudcrabs and lobsters at bottom of block near the blue shed. Stainless steel fish-cleaning table here also.
- Bedroom 1 - Queen bed, open robe / shelving, fan, reading lights.
- Bedroom 2 - Queen bed, open robe / shelving, fan, reading lights.
- Bedroom 3 - Queen bed, open robe / shelving, fan, reading lights.
- Bedroom 4 - One set of single bunks and one single bed, built in robe, fan.
- All beds have mattress protectors, pillows, a doona with doona cover and light cotton blankets. Please note: You must BYO sheets, pillow cases, towels, bath mats and tea towels. No sleeping bags or swags on beds thank you.
- Bathroom downstairs - separate bath, vanity, shower.Separate toilet.
- Ensuite upstairs - shower, vanity, separate/ two-way toilet.
- Laundry - Washing machine, tub, deep freezer. Clothes-line under house.
- Plenty of parking space for 4WDs, trailers and boats.
- Sprinkler system operates automatically.
- There is a phone in the house. People can call in on this number or you may make local calls, eg; to the shop. A long distance call bar exists on the phone. For long distance calls, please use one of the 3 public phones in Orchid Beach (see PDF map - 85kb). Telstra CDMA and GSM phones also work at Orchid Beach.
